Earth Hour - the impact we can achieve together

Over the years, people around the world have achieved massive environmental impact. Earth Hour is the event, which is annually organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and has its primary aim to draw people’s attention to the global ecological problems through one hour free from electricity. The first Earth Hour was held in Sydney in 2007. During some years, this movement became the largest ecological event and today Earth Hour celebrates its 10th Anniversary.

Around the globe, millions of people set aside an hour to host events, switch off their lights, and make noise for climate change action. At the same time, the most famous buildings and monuments of the world turn off the backlight for an hour. Each year, millions of people come together to make Earth Hour happen, paying people’s attention to ecological issues. This year Earth Hour traditionally will be held from 8:30 p.m . to 9.30 p.m. on March 25th, 2017 and people all over the world will welcome this great event with switching off the electricity at homes and creating amazing flash dances with candles and light sticks.

Model United Nation of the Russian Far East fully supports this movement, as little steps bring big results. Moreover, Earth Hour shows that each of us could be a hero for our planet. Our actions today can change our tomorrow. Let's #ChangeClimateChange.
