Thursday, 02 April 2020 19:07

On March 28, the MUNRFE Vladivostok Club for the fourth time conducted the Earth Hour 2020 in cooperation with Far Eastern Federal University. This year it was implemented under the leadership of Polina Babenko and Ekaterina Eremina.

For the first time in 12 years, the event was conducted online. Such format gave everyone interested in the Earth Hour a chance to participate in the photo contest and the quiz, which covered questions related to environmental issues. The participants also had an opportunity to become a part of global ecological movement staying at home by engaging in various online flash-mobs, in frames of which, people were able to share their actions in support of the global "lights out" event and to tell the stories about their own ways to help the planet.

The winners of the quiz and the photo contest were awarded the gifts from the event partners namely Russky Technopark, the network of rope parks "Panda Park", the quest room «Vikhoda net» and the ecological project «Green Side».

Moreover, in Vladivostok, the illumination of many residential and administrative buildings were switched off on this day. Also, the Director of the Amur branch of WWF PhD Petr Osipov delivered a message to the residents of the city.

Earth Hour is the global ecological movement, which brings people from all over the world together on the last Saturday of March annually with the main purpose to remind everyone about the ecological problems our planet is facing today.

MUNRFE notes with the deepest gratitude the contribution to the project implementation of all the above-mentioned sponsors and hopes for further cooperation.

Also, MUNRFE expresses its appreciation to the working group members, namely Kamila Kukushkina, Alexandra Mikhailyuk, Anna Nikolaeva, Daria Valitova, Ekaterina Abushaeva, and Margarita Konokhova.
