On 2-6 March 2020, MUNRFE Vladivostok Club member Alexandra Mikhailuk joined the Model UN MSU 2020, held on the premises of Moscow State University (MSU). Representing China, Alexandra became a delegate to the United Nations Environment Programme, in which the official language chosen was Russian. The work of the committee was focused on the agenda about the usage of disposable plastics.

The Grand opening of the Model UN MSU 2020 was marked by the welcoming speeches of the Rector of MSU and an Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Victor Sadovnichiy, the Director of the International Organizations Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pyotr Ilyichev, the Deputy Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow Vladimir Pavinsky, and the Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) Eleonora Mitrofanova.

The Model UN at MSU brought together more than 300 participants from all around the world. As Alexandra Mikhailuk mentioned, the very format of the Conference was interesting since the delegates were divided in the coalitions, and each coalition was working with their own resolution, choosing the final one at the very end. All the delegates firmly stood for their country’s position, putting forward the constructive solutions they came up with. The Cultural Program is also worth noting as it included the Salvador Dali exhibition, teambuilding in an anti-café, as well as a lecture dedicated to the ecological matters and an entertaining quest.

Sharing her impressions, Alexandra stated: “This Conference was organized at the highest level and let me gain a lot of useful experience, enhance my knowledge, and meet plenty of incredibly talented people. It was an honor for me to represent MUNRFE in frames of this event.”

MUNRFE congratulates Alexandra with such an accomplishment and wishes her never stop growing and reveal new facets of her bright personality!
