The 1st MUNRFE Assembly met at the Far Eastern Federal University

On September 29, the first-ever MUNRFE Assembly took place at the Far Eastern Federal University. The meeting was presided by MUNRFE Advisory Council Chairman Mr. Vitaly Savenkov.

The Assembly considered the ED Report for the 2019 spring semester, adopted a new edition of MUNRFE Code of Conduct, and discussed the plans for the MUNRFE 20th Anniversary, which is going to be celebrated next year. Besides, the meeting contained an educational component about MUNRFE, its history, and its public image.

According to MUNRFE Charter, the Assembly is the highest decision-making body of the Organization that makes fundamental ands strategic decisions.

MUNRFE celebrates its 19th birthday

On October 1, Model United Nations of the Russian Far East celebrates its birthday: 19 years ago, the Peace Corps volunteer, Dr. Jeffrey Lindstrom, with 8 students of Khabarovsk State Academy of Economics and Law founded a debate club in Khabarovsk, which then transformed into the non-commercial organization "MUNRFE" and expanded its borders to Vladivostok and Blagoveshchensk.

MUNRFE had numerous impressive achievements and bright events to be proud of on this important date. In turn, the Organization sincerely strives to carry on positively changing people`s minds and society around, providing lots of new opportunities, and raising new generations of leaders.

Vladivostok Autumn Master-Classes 2019 are coming

MUNRFE Vladivostok Club is going to conduct the MUNRFE Autumn Master-Classes 2019 “Through Difficulties to the Stars” in Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) from September 27 to November 3 under the leadership of Oleg Powzyk and Polina Dolgopolova. The educational project unites Russian and international students in order to provide them with an opportunity to acquire soft skills and expand knowledge about the United Nations (UN).

The Big Presentation of the Project, at which the attendees will get answers to all their questions, is taking place on September 27, in FEFU, Building C, Red Conference Hall. The Application Form for the Presentation can be found here.

MUNRFE Excellence Day was held by Blagoveshchensk Club in AmSU

On September 19, MUNRFE Blagoveshchensk Club held an Excellence Day for the students of Amur State University (AmSU). The project aimed to introduce the students to MUNRFE, its activities, and further projects as the Annual Conference 2019. The attendees listened to the lectures about MUNRFE history and public speaking technics by the AmSU professor Dr. Marina Katynskaya, the distinguished alumnus of the Organization, and current Blago Club President Elizaveta Sungurova respectively. At the public speaking training, the participants had an opportunity to get tips for successful performing in public and try some of the MUNRFE methods of the public speaking skills improvement.

“The UN for schools 2019” will be conducted in Vladivostok

On September 17-25, the MUNRFE Vladivostok Club in collaboration with Far Eastern Federal University will conduct “The UN for schools 2019”, a station game for high school students which aims to familiarize young people with the United Nations (UN) and its influence in the world. The stations will represent the main UN organs, the Sustainable Development Goals, and MUNRFE as a part of Model UN movement. The participants will have a chance to learn the history and the principles of the UN, understand the purposes of its existence, and get acquainted with the MUNRFE values. The first school to host a game on September 21 is FEFU Gymnasium.

On August 30, MUNRFE Assistant Executive Director and the MUNRFE Annual Conference 2019 Secretary-General Aleksei Stanonis took part in the meeting of the winners of the grant competition of the Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs from Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) with FEFU President Nikita Yu. Anisimov.

Aleksei presented the Conference to the President, listed the goals set by the Secretariat this year, the current stage of the project and named a number of areas in which the support from the University is most necessary. Dr. Anisimov highly appreciated the work done so far, noting almost twenty years of successful MUNRFE activities in the field of youth leadership development and expressed the readiness of FEFU to provide the Secretariat of the Conference with the necessary administrative, informational and organizational support.

On 3-6 August 3-6, 2019, MUNRFE Executive Director Alexandra Kosyreva successfully performed the duties of the Secretariat member in UN4MUN segment at the WEMUN Expo Conference organized by WELAND International. The Сonference was on held the premises of the Beijing Olympic Convention Center in Beijing, China and gathered over 1000 participants from more than 80 schools.

Ms. Kosyreva occupied the position of the Economic and Social Council Commission on Social Development Secretary which convened around 30 delegates discussing the agenda item “Social dimensions of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development”.

MUNRFE at the Russian Children`s Center “Ocean”

On July 25-27, MUNRFE organized a short-term course on the United Nations (UN) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for high-school students in the Russian Children`s Center “Ocean”. The program named “Children of the World” gathered young people from 14 countries including Russia, Laos, Vietnam, China, Republic of Korea, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Germany, Netherlands, Myanmar, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, and Algeria. Advisory Council Chairman Vitaly Savenkov, Executive Director Alexandra Kosyreva, Vladivostok Club President Daria Zlydar and Club member Ekaterina Eremina introduced key features of the sustainable development, history of the UN as well as public-speaking, negotiations and research techniques to more the 60 students.

MUNRFE shared experience at FEFU-HIT Summer School

From 22 July to 2 August 2019, Far Eastern Federal University and Harbin Institute of Technology held the Summer School on the premises of FEFU. The participants of the Program had a chance to explore one of the best Russian campuses, learn a bit of the Russian language and immerse into the Russian culture. Besides, the school aimed to generally foster the self-development of the HIT students. That is why MUNRFE members took part in the program as well by delivering lectures on soft skills, studying in FEFU, and the United Nations affairs.

On July 11, MUNRFE Executive Director Alexandra Kosyreva and NMUN-NY 2019 team adviser Anna Timokhina were honored to participate in the Graduation Ceremony for 120 best FEFU students. It is a traditional event at which the most outstanding students who contributed a lot to academic and social life in FEFU received their Diploma.

MUNRFE members show outstanding results on a regular basis, that is why no TOP-100 or TOP-120 goes without MUNRFE participation. It shows the reliability of the Organization and a high level of training for its members.

Alexandra and Anna have immensely contributed to the development of the Organization. First of all, they took part in several MUN conferences in Russia and abroad and achieved high results on behalf of MUNRFE. Secondly, they organized a large number of projects ranging from Club to international scale. Finally, they have always been ready to give a helping hand or a piece of advice as people who know what MUNRFE is and share its values with everyone.
