Model United Nations of the Russian Far East jointly with Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) is delighted to announce the Far Eastern Model United Nations 2021 to be conducted on May 14-17 in a hybrid format: one Committee will be organized online, two Committees will be held offline on the premises of the FEFU Campus (Vladivostok, Russia) with the maintenance of requirements regarding mass events implementation determined by the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (“Rospotrebnadzor”). The registration process both for delegations and single participants will be available on the Registration page till April 18.
The official language of the Conference is English.
FEMUN 2021 gives every participant an opportunity to try on the role of a real diplomat representing the interests of a chosen state while discussing global agendas in one of the available United Nations institutions in the UN4MUN format. FEMUN 2021 is the only MUN Conference in Russia that applies the UN4MUN format – the most accurate simulation of the UN that was elaborated by the UN Department of Global Communications (past Department of Public Information). You can find more information about the format on the General Info page.
The Conference program includes:
- • Model UN debates: negotiations, document writing, and taking action (adopting resolutions/ presidential statements);
- • Educational component: lectures and workshops with invited experts of federal (Russia) and international levels - senior officials of different UN agencies and international organizations, distinguished scholars, and representatives of non-governmental organizations;
- • Cultural program: exploring Vladivostok, immersing into Russian culture, and building friendships with participants from other committees.
This year 3 international entities will be simulated. The list of the committees and the agenda items may be found on the Committees and Agenda page along with the countries available for participants to apply for on the Country/Committee Matrix page. You may find more details about the Conference format and history on the General info page.
Taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic, all requirements regarding mass events implementation developed by Rospotrebnadzor and FEFU (wearing of masks, gloves, sanitizer use, number of people in a room, submission of a certificate of the negative test result of pre-entry COVID-19 test, and others) will be maintained.
Delegates to the offline Committees will have to submit a certificate of the negative test result of the pre-entry COVID-19 test three days prior to the event. MUNRFE does not cover financial expenditures.
According to the results of the Conference, the Secretariat will recognize the recipient of the “Outstanding Position Paper” award, the “Outstanding Delegations” (team award) as well as recipients of the “Diplomacy Award” (individual award at the offline Committees) and the “Online Diplomacy Award” (at the online Committee).
The recipients of the Diplomacy Award will be credentialed to take part in the MUNRFE Leadership Program that includes participation in the international Model UN in 2021 in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as visits to the various diplomatic and educational institutions in Russia and abroad.
If you have any questions regarding the Conference, please feel free to address the Secretariat. The contact person is Ms. Daria Zlydar, the Secretary-General of FEMUN 2021.
