The Japanese National Police Agency has officially confirmed 1597 deaths, 1743 injuries, and 1085 people missing across twelve prefectures, but estimated numbers are far higher, as 10,000 deaths. The earthquake caused extensive damage in Japan, including heavy damage to roads and railways as well as fires in many areas, dam collapse, and melt down of 2 Nuclear Power Plants. Around 4.4 million households in northeastern Japan are still left without electricity and 1.4 million without water.

Here is the initial plan of the project by Model United Nations of the Russian Far East, 180 Degrees Consulting Russia, Student Council FEFU, and International Department FEFU, "Vladivostok Prays for Japan"

 

So far 3 projects will for sure take place,

1) Moment of Prayer will take place on 25th of March, Friday at 8pm, DVFU Oktyabrskaya 27, In front of main campus.
We encourage all people in the city to take part, Candles will be provided but better if each can bring your own.
We would like to have a moment of silence and prayers, dedicated to the people in Japan, who has died and suffering from the tragedy.

2) Prayer Board, which people can be write messages and make one big Board will start at the end of this week. Papers to put the 'messages & prayers' will be put in restaurants, universities, and anywhere we can get the support from. We will gather all the messages next Friday, and make one big board of prayer.

3) Donation will be also done, with Boxes for Donation put everywhere in the city, where we can get the permission. We will also open site soon so that people can donate through the internet using credit cards, connecting to Sberbank service or Red Cross, or straight to Japan Donation systems.
