2023: YEAR IN REVIEW
While the very last days of 2023 are waiting to give way to a new cycle, which is the year 2024, let us remember outstanding victories and wonderful achievements MUNRFE and its members made possible this year.
Churkin Moscow International Model UN 2023 (C-MIMUN)
The biggest MUN Conference in Western Europe that is conducted annually on the basis of Moscow State Institute of International Relations greeted the MUNRFE delegation with 8 delegates and their Adviser, who also served as C-MIMUN 2023 FAO President — Ms. Polina Dolgopolova. The MUNRFE delegation also had a unique opportunity to become guests in the Office of UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Moscow as well as in the Office of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Regional Delegation for the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
During the Conference every delegate showed high level of professionalism and leadership, which earned the delegation following awards:
- Ms. Maria Chizhova – Best delegate (UNESCO)
- Mr. Maxim Krivonosov – Best delegate (Security Council)
- Ms. Alina Vidykina – Honourable Mentioned delegate (FAO)
- Ms. Chimita Choinzhinova – Honourable Mentioned delegate (UNESCO)
MUNRFE Spring Master-Classes 2023
During the Spring semester MUNRFE reimagined the project that shows Organization’s strive to share knowledge and experience and see no boundaries when doing so. With support from “Molodezh Primorya”, from April 3 to 30 MUNRFE members conducted presentations to high school students in Artem, Arsenev, Fokino, Nakhodka, and Ussuriysk and conducted an online educational interactive course. The 5 winners of Spring Master-Classes, namely Ms. Maria Anashkina, Mr. Sergey Brushko, Mr. Maxim Ugai, Ms. Milana Vinogradova, and Ms. Olga Tobulaeva, won a chance to participate in the upscale MUNRFE Conference — Far Eastern Model UN 2023 (FEMUN).
Far Eastern Model UN 2023
A unique upscale MUNRFE Conference, that follows the UN4MUN format, created by the United Nations Department of Global Communications took place on May 12-15 at Far Eastern Federal University. The Conference was conducted with support from “Molodezh Primorya'' and gathered more than 90 participants to discuss the problems of international terrorism, management of coastal zones and information and communication technology. 5 winners of the Conference will join the MUNRFE Leadership Program:
- Mr. Georgii Slastin (Switzerland, General Assembly Second Committee)
- Ms. Svetlana Stroiteleva (USA, General Assembly Second Committee)
- Mr. Vladimir Gorokhov (Singapore, General Assembly Third Committee)
- Ms. Aleksandra Uarova (USA, General Assembly Third Committee)
- Mr. Klimenty Kudryavtcev (Albania, Security Council)
“Rosmolodezh” Grant Competition
In June of this year the Secretary-General of the 22nd MUNRFE Annual Conference (AC 2023) Ms. Anna Barysheva won a grant competition, conducted by “Rosmolodezh”, a federal youth agency that supports social initiatives, and secured over 900,000 thousand rubles for the implementation of Organization’s biggest projects – AC 2023, FEMUN 2024, and MUNRFE Autumn Master-Classes 2023. The victory in the grant competition showed that the Organization’s mission is relevant and encouraged, to which MUNRFE is highly appreciative.
Refugee Week 2023: From the Clean Slate
On June 20th, the MUNRFE Vladivostok Club conducted the project, officially partnering with the UN Refugee Agency in Russia and joining the International celebration of the Refugee Week. The “Refugee Week 2023: From a Clean Slate '' became a part of the Agency’s annual project “Point of displacement”, which serves as an inclusive international discussion platform for the issues of migration and forced displacement with the perspectives from different cultures and experience lenses. Every year it is joined by International humanitarian organisations, NGOs, and Russian art museums and theatres. The duties of the Coordinators of the project were fulfilled by Ms. Svetlana Stroiteleva and Mr. Viacheslav Ermoshin.
Eastern Economic Forum 2023
On 10-13 September, the 8th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) took place in Vladivostok at the Far Eastern Federal University. With EEF being one of the key diplomatic platforms of the Russian Far East, MUNRFE members contributed to its work on the positions of organisers, attachés of delegations from China, Myanmar, and Philippines, volunteers, and participants. MUNRFE Vladivostok Club’s President Ms. Arina Bukreeva took the floor as a speaker at the display of the Russian Federation Ministry of Science and Higher Education, discussing the vectors of youth policy in the Asia Pacific region and youth-led communities and organisations.
Launch of “MUNRFE Alumni” project
In October of 2023, MUNRFE launched a project to reunite with the alumni from the Organisation's 23-year history. MUNRFE highly values the knowledge and experience alumni share with future generations to multiply its success and strives to expand communication with them in future projects. Pacific Horizon Discussion Club
On November 25, the first meeting of “Pacific Horizon” – the youth discussion club, focusing on the geopolitical impact and status of Primorsky Krai – took place, which was attended by MUNRFE members and Vladivostok Club’s Presidential Team. During the meeting the composition of the Executive Committee was voted upon and MUNRFE members Ms. Daria Bakanina and Ms. Ksenia Zaytceva received the honour to fulfil these duties. They will be responsible for organising the Club’s meetings and working with the “Pacific Horizon’s” board.
22nd MUNRFE Annual Conference 2023
On December 1-5, MUNRFE flagman event – the 22nd MUNRFE Annual Conference 2023 – took place with more than 100 young people, participating as delegates. Participants productively worked within five Committees – Security Council, UN Environment Assembly, UN Economic and Social Council for Asia and the Pacific, UN Commission on Population and Development, and World Bank – attended the Cultural program in the Primorsky stage of Mariinsky theatre and a briefing with the International Committee of the Red Cross expert. The event concluded with the awarding ceremony, where the names of four winners were announced:
- Ms. Ksenia Zaytceva (United Kingdom, UN Environment Assembly)
- Ms. Arina Bukreeva (United Kingdom, World Bank)
- Ms. Margarita Lavrenteva (China, Security Council)
- Mr. Artem Safronov (Malaysia, World Bank)
The winners of the Conference will participate in MUNRFE Leadership Program and participate in an international MUN Conference in 2024.
Among all of these achievements that the Organization had this year – the immense personal and professional growth of its members that participated in Conferences, coordinated projects and showed endless potential of human mind.
