MUNRFE at the Model United Nations 2014 Istanbul Conference
The delegation of MUNRFE representing Romania at the Model United Nations 2014 Istanbul Conference (MUNIST 2014) was granted several awards under the leadership of Mr. Lavrentiy Pak (Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service) as an adviser. Exactly, Ms. Victoriya Yavorskaya (Far Eastern Federal University) was recognized as an “Outstanding Delegate” in the Council of the European Union and Mr. Vladislav Ulanov (Pacific National University) was awarded with a “Honorable Mention Delegate” title in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Council for showing their high-level performance. It is worth mentioning that these delegates got an opportunity to participate in the MUNIST 2014 after their victory at the V Regional MUNRFE Conference in Khabarovsk. Obviously, they clearly proved and demonstrated their competence among the other 300 delegates at the Conference held on August, 18-22, at the Yeditepe University, Istanbul.
MUNIST is the biggest Conference that conducted in Turkey by the members of Turkish Model UN society. This time, 12 committees were simulated including four special ones: the Conference of Laussane of 1922-23, the Mediterranean Summit on the Reconstruction of Northern Africa, the Ad Hoc Committee on the Question of Cyprus and the Project-Based Committee. The Conference itself had started from the Opening Ceremony where participants could listen to the keynote speeches from the United Nations officers and the representatives of the city administration. During all 5 days of the Conference, MUNRFE delegation constantly worked hard in their committees simultaneously trying to adjust to the new environment appeared in a completely sophisticated culture. Besides working in the committees, the delegation participated in different social events that were organized with the aim to provide informal communication between all of the delegates. Moreover, the delegation attended the special workshops organized by the MUNIST Academic Team in order to improve their knowledge in the sphere of international relations.
Finally, at the Closing Ceremony all of the efforts that the delegation undertook during the preparation process and Conference itself were appreciated by two individual aforementioned recognitions. This summer MUNRFE made a big step turning one more terra incognita into another success of the entire Organization.
