MUNRFE officials took part in the Second Russia-ASEAN Youth Summit
On 17-19 October 2014 the delegation from Vladivostok took part in the Second Russia-ASEAN Youth Summit “Young Russia – Young ASEAN: Contributors to Greater Connectivity” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mr. Vitaliy E. Savenkov, MUNRFE Director-General, and Ms. Olga V. Katina, the Secretary-General of the Annual MUNRFE Conference 2014, successfully represented Far Eastern Federal University while participating in the activities of the Summit framed in several workshops, including Trade and Investment, Mass Media, Education, Regional/Global Security Threats and Moderate Stand in International Affairs. Together with other eighty young leaders from Russia and all over ASEAN they discussed various issues of bilateral and multilateral concern between South East Asian countries and Russian Federation.
The Summit was organized by the MGIMO-University ASEAN Centre, Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency and the Global Movement of Moderates Foundation, think tank for the pursuit, development and sharing of principle of moderation in international relations. The distinguished guests of the event were H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mr. Alexander Ivanov, former Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the ASEAN; H.E. Ambassador of Russian Federation to Malaysia Mrs. Lyudmila Vorobyeva; 11th Secretary-General of ASEAN H.E. Mr. Ong Keng Yong; Director of ASEAN Centre in MGIMO-University Dr. Victor Sumsky; Chief of International Projects Division, Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency Mr. Vasily Pushkov.
The forum resulted into a final statement, which accumulated a complement of proposals in the mentioned areas. Ms. Katina was chosen as one of the reporter at the workshop on Education, where a breakthrough initiative to conduct the next Youth Summit in Vladivostok was introduced, which was widely supported by the participants and organizers.
