Welcoming address by the Director-General of the Model United Nations of the Russian Far East Mr. Vitaliy E. Savenkov in commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of MUNRFE.
Dear members, fellows, partners, colleagues and alumni!
On behalf of the Board let me please express my sincere congratulations with the 15th Anniversary of one of the most prominent NGOs on the Russian Far East – the Model United Nations of the Russian Far East. Founded in 2000 by Peace Corps volunteer Dr. Jeffrey Lindstrom in Khabarovsk, MUNRFE remains an effective system for the development of young leaders. Today, MUNRFE continues to bring significant feedbacks to the local communities by providing numerous learning frameworks which turned out to be extremely successful.
Throughout our history, we have successfully cooperated with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; we have organized more than 20 Model UN conferences on the Russian Far East, APEC Youth Festival 2012, dozens of learning projects for high school and university students. We have established strong ties with almost all leading universities of the Russian Far East, some business companies and local authorities. We are definitely recognizable and known in Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk, and Vladivostok for our long-standing commitment towards personal and professional development. And nobody is going to stop.
This year MUNRFE have already proven its competence at the National Model UN in New York – the biggest Model UN conference in the world, where we have received the Distinguished Delegation award along with two individual awards. Moreover, we are going to manage our traditional summer program “FireStarer” on a brand-new level this August. We will organize Regional and Annual MUNRFE Conferences uniting more than 100 young leaders together. The best delegates of our Regional Conference will go to one more new destination for MUNRFE – Jakarta, Indonesia in September; while the most experienced MUNRFE members will attend the mecca of any Model UN delegate this November – New York, UN Headquarters, where the second edition of the world’s most important conference will be held – WFUNA International Model UN organized by World Federation of the United Nations Associations and United Nations Department of Public Information.
We are creating the future, enjoying the reality and making steps today. Happy Birthday, MUNRFE!
