APEC 2011 national selection was successfully conducted in Vladivostok
This year our organization together with Far Eastern Federal University was responsible for conduction of national selection for “Voices of the Future” (VOF) youth program that will be held in the frames of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in November 2011, Hawaii, United States.
The annual “VOF” youth program has an 11-year history. It gives young representatives of member economies from the Asia-Pacific Region the unique chance to represent their countries during the APEC Summit. The program provides the platform for youth delegations from different countries for expressing their opinions about processes that take place in the Asia-Pacific Region to the participants of the APEC Summit. Also, young leaders have an opportunity to communicate with leading politicians and business representatives.
The participation of MUNRFE in this program has begun from the year 2009 when Irina Fedorenko for the first time became a part of youth delegation of Russian Federation for participation in “APEC VOF 2009” in Singapore. The next delegation was formed only from MUNRFE members: Irina Fedorenko, Andrew Kozinetz, Viktoria Vinoselova, Oleg Saparin and Aleksandra Tatomir who represented Russian Federation at “APEC VOF 2010” in Japan. Thanks to their brilliant performance the right to select posterior delegations was granted to MUNRFE.
This year the national selection was conducted in two rounds. During the first round, young people from the whole country who had the desire to become the participants of the program submitted the application form completed in English. During the work of expert commission the authors of the best 21 applications were given the admission to participate in the second round.
The second round was held in Vladivostok in the format of the APEC conference from September 1-4, 2011. During debates, the participants had to demonstrate their diplomacy skills, great knowledge of all processes that are held in the Asia-Pacific Region, and a high level of English.
As a result we have 6 winners who were given the honored credentials to represent the Russian Federation as a part of youth delegation during “APEC VOF 2011” youth program. They are: Anastasia Burmistrova (Vladivostok MUNRFE club), Viktor Klementiev (Khabarovsk), Aleksandr Pilyay (Vladivostok MUNRFE club), Marianna Belinskaya (Saint-Petersburg), Daria Fedorova (Vladivostok MUNRFE club) and Antonina Gromyko (Moscow).
