ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2024 REPORT
On December 13-17, the 23rd MUNRFE Annual Conference 2024 took place at the Far Eastern Federal University campus in Vladivostok. For five days, more than 70 participants from Russia, including Blagoveshchensk, Vladivostok and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and abroad were debating on the vitally important Agenda Items of chosen Committees.
During the Conference, the work of four institutions was simulated, among which are the UN Security Council (SC), the World Bank (WB), the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and the International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference (IAEA GC). Within the Committees participants discussed the following Agenda Items:
UN Security Council:
- The Situation in the Middle East;
- Open agenda.
World Bank:
- Appraisal and approval of development projects.
ESCAP:
- Use of digital technology and geospatial information systems to enhance resilience and promote sustainable development;
- Implementing Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
IAEA GC:
- The Future of Atoms: Artificial Intelligence for Nuclear Applications;
- Nuclear Waste Management.
The Educational Component of AC 2024 included a Panel Discussion on the topic “Outcomes of Russia’s 2024 BRICS Presidency for Youth”. This event included a moderator of the meeting Mr. Andrei I. Kozinets, Associate Professor of the FEFU Department of International Relations; as well as esteemed speakers: Mr. Aleksei Ya. Stanonis, Counsellor of the International Youth Cooperation and Tourism Office of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; and Mr. Artem L. Lukin, Associate Professor in the FEFU Department of International Relations.
Moreover, in frames of the Conference Programme, the participants had the opportunity to take part in the Briefings, conducted by experts from the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
Ms. Kareff Rafisura, Economic Affairs Officer at the UN ESCAP, presented an extensive Briefing on the theme “Use of digital technology and geospatial information system to enhance resilience and promote sustainable development” to the delegates of such Committees as ESCAP and World Bank. ESCAP’s Social Affairs Officers - Mr. Alexander Kozlov and Dr. Marco Roncarati - introduced profound information regarding the process of migration and ESCAP’s work in this framework.
Noteworthy, the delegates of the IAEA GC experienced an informative Briefing from an independent expert and MUNRFE alumna Ms. Galina Salnikova.
As a result, delegates who have shown the most outstanding performances were recognized in various nominations.
