MUNRFE at the National Model UN - Japan 2016
On November 20 – 26, 2016 the MUNRFE successfully represented the organization and the Russian Federation at the National Model United Nations (NMUN) – Japan 2016 in Kobe. Under the guidance of Ms. Elena Kiseleva, the students of the Far Eastern Federal University Ms. Anna Timokhina, Ms. Alena Filimonova, Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva, Ms. Yulia Kosiakova and Ms. Yana Krasnitskaya once again have proved the highest level of professionalism and knowledge of MUNRFE members. This year, the National Model UN – Japan 2016 united more than 300 students from all over the globe including the United States, Italy, Japan, Czech Republic, Philippines and other, where MUNRFE delegation became the only Russian delegation at the Conference. For the first time in frames of the NMUN participation the delegation represented two countries – the United Mexican States and the Republic of Ecuador represented in the UN General Assembly and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. As an ultimate result, the hard preparation, teamwork and devotion of the delegation to success have led to the following results:

Outstanding Delegation: Mexico - Yulia Kosiakova, Aleksandra Kosyreva and Alena Filimonova;
Distinguished Delegation: Ecuador - Yana Krasnitskaya and Anna Timokhina;
In frames of the NMUN trip the delegates were privileged to attend the meeting with the Ambassador Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ecuador to Japan, H.E. Mr. Leonardo Carrion Eguiguren. In frames of the meeting Mr. Eguiguren outlined the primary directions of Ecuador’s policy in frames of the United Nations, in particular its active role and interest in contributing to the resolution of the Climate Change agenda and the protection of the environment. Besides, the students were honored to attend the meeting with the Head for Political Affairs of the Embassy of Mexico in Japan – Mr. Jose Antonio Gloria. During the informal discussion, Mr. Gloria kindly shared the vision and policy of Mexico regarding the most crucial global issues discussed in frames of the United Nations, such as elimination of weapons of mass destruction, illicit trade of arms, protection of children in armed conflicts and climate change.
