Prior the conference Ms. Kosiakova and Ms. Bozhenova successfully passed the selection process among Far Eastern Federal University students, which granted them an opportunity to represent MUNRFE and university at this high-profile event.
In frames of C-MIMUN 2017 MUNRFE team had an opportunity to listen to the lecture devoted to the role of the United Nations presented by professors of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) that served as the conference venue. At the opening ceremony the delegates were also privileged to receive a welcoming word from the Head of MGIMO – Dr. A. V. Torkunov, the first Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN – H.E. Mr. A. A. Pankin, the Head of the UN Information Agency in Moscow – Mr. V. V. Kuznetsov, who presented the addressing letter to participants from the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.
Due to the recent tragic event the Moscow International Model UN was assigned to a new name in the memory of the outstanding Russian diplomat – Ambassador Mr. V.I. Churkin, the organizers of the conference conducted the meeting with the Head of the Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Russia – Mr. E. A. Stanislavov, where MUNRFE team learned about life of the ex-permanent Representative of Russia to the UN as well as about the real work experience within the UN system. As a result of hard work process during the entire Conference Ms. Yuliia Kosiakova was granted “The Best Delegate” award, presented by the Chair of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of UN Associations – Mr. A. N. Borisov at the closing ceremony.
We would like to express our gratitude to Vladivostok MUNRFE Club for conducting training debates on the agenda items of the Committees chosen by the delegates which helped them to replicate the MIMUN Conference format in order to better prepare to conquer a new height of Model UN conferences.
MUNRFE is highly determined to maintain its objectives to build a strong MUN community on the national level, thus it hopes its members will proceed to pursue these ideas through wide-represented participation in further conferences.
