MUNRFE Governing Council Chairman successfully performed in frames of WIMUN India 2018 Secretariat
Mr. Vitaly Savenkov joined the Secretariat of the World Federation of UN Associations (WFUNA) International Model UN (WIMUN) in India as Security Council Director for the second time. Traditionally, the Conference took place in the magnificent city of Agra from April 27 to May 1, and gathered more than 200 participants from India and other countries. It featured extensive trainings on WIMUN approach, hot debates and amazing socials, including the super heroes’ night and the cultural program. WIMUN India 2018 was the third regional edition of WIMUN, which is cosponsored by WFUNA and the Worldview Education Ltd, and supported by the UN Association – India, WFUNA Foundation, UN Information Center for India and Bhutan, and Coca-Cola India.
For the first time at WIMUN, a brand new organ was simulated under the guidance from WFUNA Model UN Coordinator Mr. William Yotive – the Economic and Social Council, which format and procedure is completely different from the ones of the General Assembly and the Security Council. There is no surprise that ECOSOC got the biggest interest both among the delegates and faculty, however traditionally simulated General Assembly Committees and Security Council were popular as well.
WIMUN India 2018 became the second WIMUN project in a row, successfully attended by MUNRFE members. In February, Mr. Savenkov along with Ms. Kiseleva and Ms. Kosyreva joined the Secretariat of the flagship WIMUN 2018 in New York. Moreover, the next WFUNA project this year, the Youth Camp in the Republic of Korea, will be also attended by MUNRFE representatives. Such active participation of the young leaders from the Russian Far East in WFUNA-sponsored events proves the high level development of the MUN movement in the region one more time.
