MUNRFE at the IV Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok
According to the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Vladivostok annually hosts the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) – a high level meeting aimed at the strengthening Russia’s integration into the Asia-Pacific Region. Traditionally, MUNRFE was among the main organizers of the EEF Youth Platform. This year the Youth Platform consisted of the Youth Hi-Tech Pavilion and Lecture Course Program. The latter was coordinated by Mr. Vitaly Savenkov, MUNRFE Governing Council Chairman, as its Program Director, and Ms. Polina Varfolomeeva (Vladivostok Club member) served as Assistant Program Director. Besides the Youth Platform, the following MUNRFE members assisted FEFU International Office in implementation of the International APEC Conference on Cooperation in Higher Education: Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva (Vladivostok Club Acting President), Ms. Galina Salnikova (Public Information Junior Associate), Ms. Julia Nedelkina (Program Junior Associate), Ms. Alexandra Chernysheva (Vladivostok Club Cabinet member), Ms. Anastasia Vrishch (Vladivostok Club member).
The IV EEF Youth Platform Lecture Course Program was tremendously intense and included a considerable number of top speakers: SIBUR Chairman of the Board Mr. Dmitry Konov; Adviser to the Rosneft President Mr. Andrey Bezrukov; Rosgeology Director of Geological Exploration for Solid Minerals Mr. Artur Uzunkoyan; one of the creators of the WeChat messenger, Tencent Core Founder and Chinese philanthropist Dr. Charles Chen (PRC); Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and former Incheon Mayor Mr. Song Young-gil (Republic of Korea); a former adviser to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and a member of the Global Energy Prize awards committee H.E. Rae Kwon Chung (Republic of Korea); Vice Chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization Mr. Wu Xuan (PRC); China Overseas Development Association Secretary General Mr. He Zhenwei (PRC); Russian Venture Company CEO and former Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mr. Alexander Povalko; Agency for Strategic Initiatives Corporate Director Ms. Yelena Myakotnikova; RUSNANO Chairman of the Executive Board Mr. Anatoly Chubais; BIOCAD CEO Mr. Dmitry Morozov. The whole event was concluded on 12 September 2018 by the meeting between young people and Russian Foreign Minister H.E. Sergey Lavrov.
The 7th APEC Conference on Cooperation in Higher Education (APEC CCHE) themed “Education in the Digital Era: Challenges and Opportunities for APEC” was traditionally hosted by Far Eastern Federal University. The Conference gathered university presidents, heads of education agencies and research institutions as well as experts and distinguished scholars from APEC member-economies. APEC CCHE has been held annually since 2012 in accordance with the decision of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and APEC Working Group on the Development of Human Resources. APEC serves as one of the key platforms for promoting Russia’s interests in the Asia-Pacific region, including the sphere of humanitarian and socio-cultural exchanges.
MUNRFE is proud to be actively involved in the implementation of the only Youth Platform at the Russian economic forum of the Presidential level, as well as to be a part of other high level international events hosted by Far Eastern Federal University. There is no doubt these platforms bring significant benefits to the Russian Far East in general and to its young leaders in particular.
