MUNRFE at IMUN 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
On November 22-24, MUNRFE delegation participated in the International Model UN 2019 (IMUN 2019) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The team composed of the winners of Far Eastern Model UN 2019, namely Alina Medved, Oleg Povzyk, Polina Dolgopolova, Daria Kurushina under the guidance of the delegation adviser – Daria Zlydar have successfully performed at the Conference.
Having demonstrated a high level of professionalism, leadership capacities, and deep knowledge of the Committees’ mandate and agenda items, Daria Kurushina and Oleg Povzyk were recognized as Best delegates, Polina Dolgopolova grabbed the Most Outstanding delegate award, Alina Medved and Daria Zlydar received Position Paper awards.
The delegates were assigned with 3 committees, and discussed the following agenda items:
World Trade Organization
Global Trade System in the Aftermath of Brexit,
Non-tariff Barriers to Trade Focusing on Regional Agreements;
World Health Organization
Impact on Health due to Rapid Urbanization and its Mitigating Process,
Health Situation in Africa with Focus on Vaccination and Sanitation;
UN Security Council
The situation in Aleppo, Syria,
Cybersecurity and Threats to International Peace.
Besides the participation in the Conference, the delegation visited various institutions and youth-led entities:
The Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Malaysia where they had a briefing conducted by Dr. Ayrat A. Akhmetov, Counsellor of Russian Embassy and Russian Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur Director;
The UN Global Compact Network (UNGCN) having a meeting with UNGCN Advisor Mr. Shak Shahrul;
UN Association Malaysia with a briefing with Youth Advisory Council Member for Asia at World Federation of UN Associations Mr. Eshaan Menon;
The Universiti Tinku Abdul Rahman where they had a meeting with the Deputy Dean Assist. Prof. Foo Meow Yee.
