One of the most pleasurable projects of Model United Nations of the Russian Far East – Summer Programme FireStarter’2010 – was successfully conducted in August, 2010 basing on children's recreation center “Energetic” in Khabarovsk. In collaboration with “Rodnik Zdorovya” public corporation and Far Eastern State Transport University (FESTU) the Programme gathered 47 bright and talented high-school students from Vladivostok, Blagoveshchensk, Ussuriysk, Arsenyev, Podyapolsk, Nahodka and Khabarovsk.
Specific curriculum of the programme, warm team ambience and constant youthful ardour exploded FireStarter with positive children emotions. During the whole Programme participants heard not only standard MUN lectures on public speaking, leadership, system thinking, marketing and goal-setting, but also plunged into trainings, business-games, parliamentary debates and mini-MUN conference as prospective debaters and representatives of Russian Far East student activists . Working group comfortably elaborated daily schedule of children in the way, when events and activities covered not only educational part (lectures, learning new words, trainings), but also an entertaining one (sport games and invariable evening performances).
Moreover, FS’10 became a new stage of self-development and leadership for 9 current members of MUNRFE:
• Malika Dosamanova – Coordinator (Khabarovsk)
• Sofia Vidasheva – Vice-coordinator, Advisor (Khabarovsk) (Blagoveshchensk)

Due to their management and diplomatic skills, great devotion to the project, hard work during the programme and revealed team spirit, FireStarter continues to be widely reputed as a project making positive contributions upon social and civic development of the Russian Far East. We want to notice that the social project “Firestarter” is currently 7 years old, and it gathered more than 350 teenagers totally. Decades of those participants have become strong foundation of MUN and support for universities.
We hope that graduates of FS’10 will follow this tendency and wish them good luck in their future life.
