The delegation of Model United Nations of the Russian Far East was not just participants of this huge event. We were the organizing group of the workshop "Model APEC" during the International Youth Forum "Seliger-2010".

The chance to go to the "Seliger" was granted to the best debaters of the APEC Youth Summit which were conducted in May 2010 in Vladivostok. The members of MUNRFE Seliger Team 2010 were: Andrey Kozinets, Ayumi Tsukamoto, Anastasia Burmistrova, Oksana Lipchenko, Alexandra Tatomir, Ural Yakupov and Vladimir Tananykin. For three days (2nd, 3rd and 4th of July) more than 120 students were debating in the format of APEC representing interests of different countries and discussing urgent and important topics for Asia-Pacific Rim such as Ecology, Investments and Global Economic Crisis and Labor migration in the region.

In accordance with the specificity of the Forum we had to limit the work of each debates session to 80 minutes. Nevertheless, our workshop was very popular among the participants and some of them came to the debates several times. Despite the fact that the majority of the participants came to the debates without any preparation, discussions were on a very high level because of brief introductions to the problems, Policy Papers (prepared by the MUNRFE Seliger Team) which allowed them to understand the position of the country that the person would represent and extraordinary knowledge of the participants. Moreover, debaters showed their deep concern of such topics as the Kyoto Protocol and regulation of the labor migration in APEC not only as official representatives of the countries but as ordinary people. All these reasons made debates really unforgettable for the participants and Model APEC became one of the best educational business programme on the International Youth Forum "Seliger-2010".

MUNRFE were invited to the "Seliger" by Federal Agency for Youth Affairs after members of MUNRFE showed their great level of debates, English and professionalism during common work on the APEC Summit 2009 in Singapore, on the G20 Summit in France, 2009 and G8 Summits in Japan, Italy, 2008, 2009.
