MUNRFE at the AIMUN Conference 2012
Asian Model United Nations (AIMUN) – the biggest MUN conference in the region was held this year again in the city of Beijing in 22-25 March and gathered more than 400 students from different countries including a team of MUNRFE. This year our delegation was represented by 3 delegates from Vladivostok (Denis Chaplinsky, Olga Katina and Veronika Shchepinskaya), 1 delegate from Khabarovsk (Igor Lavrentiev) and 1 delegate from Blagoveshchensk (Vitaliy Savenkov).
During four days delegates were discussing various global issues – from internet security connected with the development of Internet-technologies to social issues, such as child soldiering or domestic violence. MUNRFE members took part in the simulation of two committees: Social and Humanitarian Committee (3rd GA) and Futuristic Security Council. In the first our delegation was represented by two states: Albania (Veronika Shchepinskaya and Igor Lavrentiev) and Iceland (Denis Chaplinsky). In the FSC we represented a permanent member of the Security Council – France (Olga Katina and Vitaliy Savenkov). This committee was an especially interesting experience for MUNRFE delegates as it gave them an opportunity to discuss security issues of 2032 using all their knowledge about current affairs on the international arena and extrapolating it to the nearest future. Though it was the 3rd time when MUNRFE participated in AIMUN Conference, such an experience was the first for our organization as we have never simulated futuristic committees during our conferences and never participated in them abroad.
During the conference MUNRFE delegates showed their best skills so highly valued by our organization and received both individual and team recognition. In particular, Members of Futuristic Security Council (FSC), Olga Katina and Vitaly Savenkov representing the French Republic were nominated with “the Best Document Certificate” in this Committee. Moreover, the MUNRFE team in Beijing has received the highest recognition award – “the Best Team Certificate” for the overall performance of our delegates.
A special word of gratitude should be given to the advisors of the team - Ekaterina Vognerubova and Sergey Gubchenko for their hard work, wise advises and huge support to the team during preparation and at the conference itself.
