New Site Development was established in Fokino, or “Small town, big ambitions!” (c)
The last phrase was written by the current Vladivostok MUNRFE Club President, Anna Ivanova, who is originally from Fokino, and her words are solemn truth.
Actually, Fokino is a small and quiet town in Primorskiy region, located not far from Vladivostok. Despite its not big size, Fokino has a great number of talented school students with a strong feeling of commitment to Model United Nations of the Russian Far East values and a desire to become a part of the Organization. This “Fokino story” began last year.
In November of 2012 Vladivostok MUNRFE Club initiated MUN School for “Fokino kids”, as they are usually called there. The School was coordinated by 2 brilliant young ladies - Veronika Shchepinskaya and Anna Ivanova. During two weeks different lecturers from Vladivostok Club shared their knowledge and experience of the main MUNRFE concepts about public speaking, leadership, negotiations and Model UN debates with 20 students from Fokino schools. Some of Fokino MUN School participants already felt the taste of MUNRFE, having been FireStarters 2012, but the majority of them was not aware of MUNRFE before. The climax of the School became a joint mini-conference with Vladivostok Autumn Master-Classes participants, which brought about 15 “Fokino kids” to debate in Vladivostok State University of Economics and Services for the whole Saturday. As the result, five brave 10-grade students took part in the XI International MUNRFE Conference and showed good results there.
After the bombastic XI International Conference on the Russkiy island these brave guys were convinced in their strong will of creating a new MUNRFE Club in their native town, Fokino. Finally, Managing Director’s Team visited Fokino on the 27th of January, having spent there about five hours in order to refresh basic MUNRFE leadership concepts, talk more to eyes-sparkled “Fokino kids” about the values of the Organization, its structure, main inter- and inner Clubs’ projects and other organizational points. Special Task Force was successfully finished by the election of the President, Elena Kondratieva, who appointed vice-President, Ksenia Kruglova, on the same day. On the 3rd of February the first official club meeting was held in Fokino MUNRFE, and a day before Fokino had received the official status of New Site Development, according to the Decisions of the XXII Presidents’ Council, with a right to become the MUNRFE Club.
That was how “Fokino story” was going. “Kids” have grown up. Now it’s time to be fully responsible for your part of MUNRFE and to make your own independent decisions. Now it’s time to make steps on a hard way of development and challenges. Now it’s your time to create the future, Fokino!
