MUNRFE Climbs Foreign Mountains
The spring has officially come, according to the Gregorian calendar, and it means that trips’ time starts for members of Model UN of the Russian Far East! This year, 2013, promised to be more intensive for MUNers due to the flourishing plentitude of opportunities (which every MUNRFE member calls “mountains”), where only the best MUNRFE members are awarded to participate in and represent our ambitious organization.
Speaking about ambitions, it is logical to start from the “Top dream” of each passionate MUNer from all over the world that is the biggest Model UN Conference in the World – National Model UN in New York, USA. This year it will be conducted on March, 17-21, and will gather together about 5000 young diplomats from almost every corner of our big world...
It should be reminded that winners of the XI International MUNRFE Conference are given a credential to participate in the NMUN, and they are Olga Katina, Denis Chaplinskiy, Veronika Shchepinskaya, Marina Rashchepkina, Alexandr Druzhinin, Boris Repin, Eugene Tymchenko, Ksenia Severinova and Viktoria Shevchenko. Vladimir Tananykin, the Best Advisor of the XI Conference, is leading the current MUNRFE Delegation to New York, executing his duties of advisor. The Delegation represents one of the most “problematic” countries in the world, which is Guinea-Bissau.
Apart from this “traditional” opportunity (just to win an International MUNRFE Conference and go to NMUN), another opportunity is waiting for MUNRFE in New York this year! Vitaliy Savenkov, one of the most experienced MUNRFE member and the new elected President of Blagoveshchensk Club, was invited to join the Secretariat of the New York Global Young Leaders Summit – International Model UN 2013, which is to be held on March, 26-29, in well-known for us New York City. Vitaliy was granted this opportunity after showing his high level of professionalism and impressed the organizers of the Asia-Pacific MUN Conference 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand. Mr. Savenkov explained that “The New York Global Young Leaders Summit, International Model UN 2013, will gather about 600 students from all over the world as a new alternative platform for Model UN debates with the UN building as backdrop”, and he also invited MUNRFE members to catch this opportunity.
Coming back to other “traditional trips” of MUNRFE brilliant members, one more international conference, this time in our continent, is to be mentioned. MUNRFE has become a usual visitor to one of the biggest Model UN in our region, which is the Asian International Model UN in Beijing, China, held on April, 28-31, 2013. The composition of MUNRFE Delegation to Beijing this year is as follows: Sergey Lebedev, Sergey Gorbenko, Daria Stolbikova and Anna Murzakova with Andrey Kozinets as an advisor. Having said a “traditional trip”, another untraditional point should be added here. This year the Beijing Team will have an unusual task to negotiate with universities’ authorities of the Chinese capital, who are members of Asia-Pacific Rim Universities network. This high mission was given to MUNRFE members by Far Eastern Federal University that should be a venue of the APRU Forum in 2013, with MUNRFE involved into organizing process.
Moving to further “foreign mountains”, it is to be emphasized that this year MUNRFE really broadened its horizons through having found more chances for its members’ development. In 2013, official interaction between Rome Model UN and MUNRFE started, and one of the most experienced and talented MUNRFE members, Liliya Yakubova, is going to the eternal city of Rome very soon to represent MUNRFE there. Liliya will debate for Brunei-Darussalam in the General Assembly during the Rome Model UN fourth edition, conducted in March, 7-11, in the Italian capital.
Most people said that it is great to see an MUNRFE member come back to Europe… Yes, it’s really great to “climb” Alps in Italy! It is great pleasure to say that another foreign mountain is waiting for bright MUNRFE members! If we go to overcome Alps, why don’t we climb Pyrenees and visit one more sunny European country? Another accountable and bright young lady, Anna Ivanova (Vladivostok MUNRFE President), will perform duties of the UNESCO Chair at the Catalonia Model UN 2013, Barcelona, Spain, held in May, 7-11.
Model United Nations of the Russian Far East is widening and strengthening its international networks. Appetites of its young leaders are growing, and we are ready to get new chances and to overcome new challenges. MUNRFE, it is time to conquer the World!
