V Regional MUNRFE Conference report
The V Regional MUNRFE Conference has brought together young leaders and future diplomats from Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk, and Vladivostok on 30, April – 03, May, 2014. This time the Conference was hosted by Khabarovsk MUNRFE Club under the leadership of Ms. Elena Kiseleva on the base of one of the biggest universities on the Russian Far East – the Pacific National University. The concept of the Conference "Untwining the tangle of regional problems: Eastern Europe in focus" was built around the European region giving an opportunity to the Far Eastern students to look deeper into the latest developments of one of the hottest territory in the world nowadays.
After the traditional opening ceremony, accompanied by the welcoming addresses from the Pacific National University officials: the Vice-President for Educational, Extra-Curricular Activities and Social Issues Dr. Alexander R. Mshvildadze, the Dean and Deputy Dean of the School of Law Dr. Valeriy E. Stepenko and Dr. Vera V. Koritskaya; and the unforgettable letter directly from the Director of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific East and North-East Asia Office Dr. Kilaparti Ramakrishna, the delegates started their debates in two committees: the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), with the last one being modeled for the first time in MUNRFE history. Several days of debates were hot and interesting, and no one was keeping silence in their committees, what has proven the Conference's success.
Finally at the banquet we got to know who managed to be the best and formed the new Team who will represent MUNRFE at the international event (which is under the secret right now). Let us give our sincere congratulations to the following winners of the Conference:
1) Mr. Vladislav Ulanov, OSCE (Khabarovsk);
2) Mr. Alexander Ivanov, OSCE (Vladivostok);
3) Ms. Victoria Yavorskaya, UNESCO (Vladivostok).
The following delegations were awarded as Best Teams:
1) Montenegro (Vladivostok);
2) Czech Republic (Vladivostok);
3) USA (Blagoveshchensk).
The last but not the least, MUNRFE would like to thank numerous people who contributed a lot into making this event real. First of all, let us thank the Secretary-General of the Conference – Ms. Victoria Shevchenko and the Deputy Secretary-General – Ms. Lilia Yakubova who managed to take the leadership over the Conference. Another person to pay a special tribute to, without whom the Conference would be absolutely impossible, is the Coordinator of the Conference – Ms. Elena Kiseleva, for her enormous efforts in the sphere of Conference management. Besides, we are very thankful to the whole Secretariat team for their great contribution in the substantive part of the event: Mr. Jesse Tomas, Ms. Marina Rashchepkina, Mr. Alexander Yugay, Ms. Olga Katina, Mr. Lavrentiy Pak and, of course, all the members of the organizing team and DPI.
MUNRFE would like to express its deep gratitude to the Pacific National University and the School of Law in particular for their kind attention and immeasurable contribution to the success of the V Regional MUNRFE Conference.
