MUNRFE at the World Festival of Youth and Students
This year Model United Nations of the Russian Far East became a co-organizer of the Regional Program of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) which was implemented in the Far Eastern Federal University.
On October 15, MUNRFE members, in particular, Executive Director Ms. Elena A. Kiseleva, Governing Council Chairman Mr. Vitaly E. Savenkov, Vladivostok Club President Ms. Anna S. Timokhina, Vladivostok Club Vice-President Ms. Alexandra Kosyeva, Ms. Ekaterina V. Tretiakova, Mr. Andrew S. Moon, Ms. Veronika A. Tkachenko, Mr. Andre Pawira, Ms. Julia E. Nedelkina, Ms. Ksenia O. Shevtsova, and Mr. Calvin Lee organized a platform “Voices of the XXI Century: Youth and the Global Agenda”. Being devoted to the introduction of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) the platform gathered more than 40 young leaders of Russia and abroad becoming the largest platform in representation.
In frames of the event, the participants were able to get acquainted with the work of the United Nations and Agenda 2030 that were introduced in the lecture delivered by Ms. Elena A. Kiseleva as well as to practice the knowledge obtained through participating in the 3-level station game. Particularly, young leaders were involved in solving ecological cases, creating posters on the topics related to sustainable development, and recording video addresses to the global community upon achieving SDGs.
As a result of the involvement in the activities, the participants have elaborated a set of recommendations on the issue of how to contribute to achieving sustainable development in everyday life as well as presented their ideas to the audience. The activities in frames of the platform were concluded by the photo session of participants with the images of SDGs. Moreover, on October 16 Ms. Anna Timokhina, Ms. Yana Krasnitskaya, Mr. Andrew Moon, and Ms. Ekaterina Tretyakova were appointed to accompany the foreign participants of the Festival during the diverse cultural program in the All-Russian Children Center “Okean” as well as they performed the responsibilities of interpreters.
MUNRFE expresses its gratitude for all parties related to the implementation of Regional Program WFYS 2017, particularly to the Far Eastern Federal University and Primorsky Territory Administration as well as the aspiration for further participation in new large-scale events.
