On Monday the guests visited the class of comparative politics taught by Dr. Anne Marie Choup. Each of the Russian speakers delivered a short presentation about some domestic issues, including the media and Russian pivot to the East. After that the students were quite active in asking various questions about Russia. The next day MUNRFE attended a regular meeting of the UAH Student Debate Club, which gathered more than 20 students. The discussion was quite informal, whereas Americans were really interested to know the Russian perception of various topics, such as gun policy, property issues, Reagan legacy, and etc. In turn, UAH students gladly shared their own ideas and vision, common in the US.

MUNRFE would like to express its deepest appreciation to the UAH Department of Political Sciences, and personally to the Chair Dr. John Pottenger and Dr. Anne Marie Choup, as well as to UAH Student Debate Club. Obviously, the high level relations between the Russian Federation and the United States are far from being in optimal conditions. Thus MUNRFE believes establishment and maintenance of people-to-people contacts to be most important than ever, especially in light of significant lack of authentic information about Russia among Americans. Such efforts are believed to result relatively small, but valuable contribution towards strengthening the dialogue between our countries and breaking most of ridiculous stereotypes.
