MUNRFE 2018 Highlights and warmest wishes for 2019
At the end of the year of 2018, MUNRFE wishes everyone the best of luck, strong motivation for self-development, a swarm of bright ideas, and true loyal friends.
However, New Year’s celebration is not only about congratulating each other, but it is also the time when one commemorates his or her accomplishments and sets forth new ambitious goals to aspire. MUNRFE likewise has numerous achievements to be proud of by the end of 2018 and would like to share the most remarkable of them. Not only do these highlights please everyone contributing to the successes but, also, they encourage to aim higher in 2019.
1. From February 8 to 11, MUNRFE Councilor Ms. Elena Kiseleva, Governing Council Chairman Mr. Vitaliy Savenkov, and Deputy Executive Director Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva successfully accomplished their duties as a part of Secretariat at World Federation of the United Nations Associations (WFUNA) International MUN (WIMUN) in New York, USA. MUNRFE representative Ms. Elena Kiseleva worked for the Senior Secretariat. Apart from that, Mr. Vitaliy Savenkov served as the Security Council Director at WIMUN India 2018 on April 27—May 1.
2. From March 10 to 24, MUNRFE got an opportunity to co-organize the “Young Diplomat” program alongside with the All-Russia Children Center “Okean”. Vladivostok Club Members introduced high-school students of 8-11 grades from across Russia to the MUN world by conducting lectures on topics including project management, the UN system as well as carrying out final debates which applied the MUN procedure.
3. On March 22, MUNRFE delegation composed of Mr. Ilya Kopot’, Vladivostok Club President Mr. Aleksei Stanonis, Ms. Diana Tereshchenko and Ms. Veronika Tkachenko with MUNRFE Executive Director Ms. Ekaterina Tretiakova as an adviser received an Outstanding Delegation award at the National Model United Nations (NMUN) 2018 in New York, the USA. That was the fifth team award at the event in a row.
4. On April 20, MUNRFE Vladivostok Club Vice-President Mr. Vsevolod Cheresov was recognized as the Best Delegate at the Churkin Moscow International Model United Nations becoming the second MUNRFE representative awarded at the event in the history of the Organization.
5. From May 4 to 7, traditional UN4MUN Conference – Far Eastern Model UN 2018 was implemented by MUNRFE in FEFU. Around 60 delegates participating in the event came from various parts of Russia as well as from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Tanzania, Gambia.
6. From May 22 to 24, Ms. Elena Kiseleva attended the Education for Justice (E4J) Model United Nations (E4JMUN) Workshop at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Headquarters in Vienna, Austria.
7. From July 25 to August 8, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU)-Harbin Institute of Technology Summer School for 54 students from China was conducted. Due to the Organization being a co-organizer of the event, MUNRFE Vladivostok Club members used the opportunity to share their experience on leadership, public speaking, team-building, goal-setting, and MUN debates.
8. From July 26 to August 1, Ms. Elena Kiseleva and Ms. Aleksandra Kosyreva participated in the implementation of the WFUNA Youth Camp: Korea 2018. Ms. Kiseleva and Ms. Kosyreva served as the lead trainer and trainer respectively. Having passed successfully the international selection process, they were the only representatives from Russia in the Camp.
9. From August 3 to 6, Mr. Vitaliy Savenkov and Ms. Elena Kiseleva successfully performed their duties as the Secretariat at the WEMUN Expo Conference in Beijing, China, one of the world’s largest MUN events.
10. From August 13 to 26, MUNRFE conducted its annual program for high-school children "FireStarter 2018" under the leadership of Ms. Ekaterina Tretiakova and Ms. Anna Timokhina. The event gathered the representatives from Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Ussuriysk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Blagoveshchensk and other cities of the Russian Far East.
11. From September 11 to 13, MUNRFE was a co-organizer of the IV Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) Youth Platform. The Lecture Course Program coordinated by Mr. Vitaliy Savenkov and Ms. Polina Varfolomeeva, included a considerable number of top speakers and guests such as former adviser to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, H.E. Rae Kwon Chung (ROK) as well as the Russian Foreign Minister H.E. Sergey Lavrov.
12. From September 17 to October 6, MUNRFE Blagoveshchensk Club Master Classes (MC) “Think bigger” were held in the Amur State University gathering more than 20 university and high-school students from Russia and abroad. Furthermore, from September 28 – November 4, MUNRFE Vladivostok Club MC 2018 “Never Stop Growing” were successfully conducted on the premises of FEFU attracting the record of 65 attendees.
13. From October 11 to 14, MUNRFE was a co-organizer of the Asia Pacific Association of Russian Language and Literature Professors (ATAPRYAL) sports competition among foreign university students of the Far East “World Generation”. The Organization recognizes the valuable contribution of Ms. Kamilla Dogui-ool and Ms. Yana Linkevich to the implementation of the event.
14. On November 24, MUNRFE delegation composed by Mr. Felix Portier, Mr. Vsevolod Cheresov, Ms. Aleksandra Chernysheva, Ms. Alyona Plekhanova, Ms. Anastasiia Vrishch, Ms. Polina Varfolomeeva as well as their adviser Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva, received an Outstanding Delegation award at the National Model UN 2018 in Xi’an, China. Meanwhile, MUNRFE members Ms. Aleksandra Chernysheva and Ms. Alyona Plekhanova each won Position Paper award.
15. From December 7 to 10, MUNRFE successfully implemented the 17th Annual Conference (AC) on the premises of FEFU with around 85 participants from Russia and abroad. For the first time in the history of the event implementation, the organizers managed to receive the video message of the United Nations Secretary-General, as well as to host distinguished guests from the UN Information Centre in Moscow and UN Association of Russia. Following the Conference, the composition of the MUNRFE delegation to the NMUN 2019 in New York, the USA was determined: Mr. Nikita Volkov, Ms. Galina Salnikova, Ms. Polina Varfolomeeva, Ms. Natalia Zuikova, and Ms. Daria Zlydar, and Ms. Anna Timokhina as the delegation adviser.
Additionally, on New Year’s Eve, MUNRFE would like to commemorate outstanding projects among those conducted by MUNRFE in 2018: Russia-ASEAN Project aiming to strengthen partnership relations between Russia and ASEAN.
MUNRFE would like to express its strongest appreciation to its long-lasting partners, namely Far Eastern Federal University, Amur State University, Far Eastern branch of the ‘‘Russkiy Mir’’ Foundation, Russian Federation Country Office of the World Bank, and ASEAN Centre in MGIMO University which have been supporting the Organization in all its beginnings. Also, MUNRFE pays tribute to the partners newly acquired this year which are the UN Information Centre in Moscow, the UN Association of Russia, Fund of Presidential Grants of Russia, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia, and Federal Agency for Youth Affairs of Russia.
