The National Model UN – New York 2020 was to take place from March 29 to April 2, 2020, in New York, the USA. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Conference was canceled after the Position Papers had been submitted. Keeping in mind this fact, the NMUN Organizing Committee decided to conduct the Position Papers’ evaluation process as it does not require the physical presence of all delegates.

The MUNRFE delegation to NMUN-NY 2020 was to represent the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and contained the following delegates:

Daria Kurushina (General Assembly 1st Committee);

• Maxim Sorokin (General Assembly 1st Committee);
• Christina Tolmacheva (General Assembly 2nd Committee);
• Alyona Plekhanova (General Assembly 3rd Committee);
• Mikhail Milko (Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Review Conference);
• Daria Zlydar (High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development) – adviser.

This delegation will join the winners of the MUNRFE Annual Conference 2020 at the NMUN-NY 2021.

The National Model United Nations – New York is the world’s largest Model UN Conference that goes back to the intercollegiate Model League of Nations simulation in 1927 at Syracuse University. Annually, the Conference hosts around 6000 delegates from 130 countries. NMUN has been a recognized Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) formally associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications since 1982 and a UN Academic Impact member since 2013.

MUNRFE has sent its delegations for the participation in the Conference since 2011. The delegations are formed from the Outstanding Delegates of MUNRFE Annual Conference.
