Consul General of India in Vladivostok Mr. Shubham Kumar emphasized the fact of the anniversary of cooperation between Russia and India and its importance for future on the level of institutionalized mechanisms development. Furthermore, the Ceremony was also visited by Vice Consul of India in Vladivostok Mr. Ramesh Chand.

FEMUN 2018 delegates were also privileged to receive addresses of Interim Head of the Subregional Office for East and North East Asia of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Dr. Sangmin Nam as well as the Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Moscow Mr. Vladimir Kuznetsov, who shared the sense of importance for the United Nations to have a connection with the Model United Nations movement by conducting such type of events. It is also important to mention that the Opening Ceremony was attended by the Second Secretary of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Vladivostok Mr. Evgeny S. Volosastov. Mr. Volosastov acknowledged the current challenges that are crucial for the international relations and the symbolic role of Model UN conferences in this process. Being the next keynote speaker the Representative of Far Eastern Branch of “Russkiy Mir” Foundation Ms. Elisaveta Lutsenko emphasized fruitful cooperation between “Russkiy Mir” and MUNRFE following with appreciation of overall promotion of Russian culture through international events such as FEMUN 2018. Concluding the remarks, the Secretary-General of the Far Eastern Model UN 2018 Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva praised the FEMUN for becoming a platform for exchanging ideas that promote the United Nations values such as striving for consensus and playing an active role in resolving issues of international relevance.

Later on, moving to the substantial part of the morning meeting the President of FEMUN General Assembly Mr. Alexei Stanonis conducted the Opening Plenary of the Conference with the purpose to adopt Organization of session and agenda as well as to allocate items. Heading to the affirmed agenda “Sustaining Peace” representatives of China, Kuwait, Netherlands and the USA on behalf of their political groups expressed their official positions upon the issue along with points deserving global attention. Underlining the importance of the cooperation, delegates decided to proceed the work during the upcoming sessions.

The following day was scheduled with various events such as lecture and trainings by Mr. Caleb Oh, the invited expert, representing World Federation of UN Associations International Model UN Secretariat Staff 2015-2017, aimed at broadening delegates’ knowledge about UN4MUN procedure. To make this day remarkable for participants, there was conducted the Cultural Program organized with the assistance of Far Eastern Branch of “Russkiy Mir” Foundation: specifically there were spectacular visits to the Primorskiy State Picture Gallery, Museum of Pacific Fleet and Memorial Submarine S-56 Museum.
