Far Eastern Model UN 2019 Report
On 14-17 May 2019, Model United Nations of the Russian Far East has successfully implemented its annual event the Far Eastern Model UN 2019. The conference took place on the premises of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok and gathered more than 60 delegates. 3 committees in the English language namely the General Assembly Second Committee, the General Assembly Third Committee, and the Security Council were simulated in the UN4MUN format. The event was implemented with the support of the Far Eastern Federal University, UN Information Centre in Moscow, Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, and the Far Eastern Branch of the ‘‘Russkiy Mir’’ Foundation.
The conference was devoted to the discussion of the following agenda items:
General Assembly Second Committee - Ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all;
General Assembly Third Committee - Strengthening of the coordination of humanitarian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations;
Security Council - International cooperation in the peaceful uses in outer space.
The opening ceremony of the Conference was attended by the following speakers: Mr. Daniel A. Scherban - FEFU Acting Vice President for International Relations, Dr. Ganbold Baasanjav - Head of Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Dr. Nadezhda K. Khristoforova – Head of the UNESCO Chair “Marine Ecology”, FEFU School of Natural Sciences, and Dr. Alexander N. Zubritskiy - Director of Far Eastern Branch of “Russkiy Mir” Foundation. Moreover, Dr. Ganbold Baasanjav conducted an open lecture for the participants where he elaborated on the functions of the ESCAP ENEA.
Besides, the partner of the conference, the Eastern Branch of ‘‘Russkiy Mir’’ Foundation, organized a cultural program for the participants. The delegates had a chance to visit the Primorskiy Aquarium, Primorskiy Picture Gallery as well as a gallery of the modern art «ArtEtazh».
In frames of UN4MUN format, the delegates had an opportunity to play a more substantive role performing as the General Assembly Officials. The following delegates were moderating the work in their committees according with the results of an election:
Chairperson for the General Assembly Second Committee – Kristina Tolmacheva (Belgium);
Chairperson for the General Assembly Third Committee – Evgeniya Sochneva (China);
in accordance with the rotation order of the UN Security Council members, Oleg Povzyk (Indonesia) was appointed as the Security Council President.
Alexandra Chernysheva was performing the duties of the President of the General Assembly.

Model United Nations of the Russian Far East is honored to list the Recipients of the Diplomacy Award, who will be representing the organization at the Yale MUN 2019 in Korea.

Moreover, it is of significant importance to mention the contribution of the Department of Global Communications who were responsible for the infrastructural matters as well as the media coverage at the. MUNRFE thanks the Head of DGC were performed by Oksana Bozhenova as well as the DGC members Yana Linkevich, Nikita Volkov, Gelena Stepanova, Natalia Zuikova, Veronika Tkachenko, and Andrew Moon. MUNRFE also appreciates the work of the Department of Conference Management, which was comprised of Daria Kurushina, Yana Linkevich, Yelizaveta Kalinina, Eugene Sochneva, Polina Babenko, and Valeria Tsay.
