MUNRFE successfully conducted the celebration of the UN 75th Anniversary
From September 11 to October 24, 2020, MUNRFE conducted the online project “UN 75: On the way to Sustainable Development” devoted to the UN 75th Anniversary. The project gathered students from Vladivostok, Blagoveshchensk, Bratsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Saint-Petersburg, and Tomsk.
The project program included three events, in particular, the essay contest, the photo exhibition, and the series of online lectures. First of all, students had an opportunity to take part in the all-Russia student essay contest which was held on September 11 – October 15, 2020. Contestants shared their ideas about the role of the UN in the modern world and the progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation by the international community.
The winners of the essay were awarded special prizes and free participation in the MUNRFE Annual Conference 2020:
1st place – Ksenia Kuznetsova (Bratsk State University)
2nd place – Polina Babenko (Far Eastern Federal University)
3rd place – Danil Vinokurov (Far Eastern Federal University)
On October 22-24, 2020, the most important part of the project was conducted. More than 50 participants had an opportunity to listen to a series of lectures on the past and present of the UN and the SDGs from the Youth Envoy of the SDG 1 in Russia Ms. Polina Varfolomeeva and the Youth Envoy of the SDG 9 in Russia Mr. Aleksei Stanonis. In the next stage, the participants worked in 6 teams and exchanged their ideas on solving the most pressing global issues in frames of two thematic tracks “The UN and innovations” and “The UN and global challenges of humanity”. As the result of the presentations, “The Rolling Stones” team which was comprised of students from Vladivostok, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and Blagoveshchensk was recognized as the best one at the project.
Moreover, on October 12-24, the “UN 75: On the way to Sustainable Development” photo exhibition was held on the FEFU campus. Students and guests of FEFU got acquainted with historical photos from the UN photo archive, provided with QR codes with a URL to the description of the images on the web portal of the event https://forms.gle/uHxzSqpu9AR7VfRw6.
