MUNRFE successfully conducted Model Shanghai Cooperation Organization 2020 jointly with FEFU International Department
On November 17, students of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) received a unique experience of debates in the format of representing states at the first Student Model Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) 2020 organized by the FEFU International Department in cooperation with MUNRFE. 16 participants discussed the ways to reach a new level in countering the threat of terrorism and expanding interaction in the field of youth diplomacy and humanitarian exchanges. The Student Model of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held on the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in conjunction with Russia's chairmanship of the SCO in 2019-2020.
The students tried on the role of Heads of states, governments or ministries and departments, and also discussed priorities for organizing agendas in frames of simulating the work of the SCO bodies representing one of the eight SCO Member States, namely, including India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The meetings were held simultaneously in two committees with the following agendas:
- Council of Foreign Ministers - "Development of youth public diplomacy both within the SCO and beyond";
- Meeting of Ministers of the Interior and Public Security - "Increasing the level of countering terrorism through modernization and development of joint initiatives".
As a result of the debates, two MUNRFE Vladivostok Club members, Ms. Tatiana Akuneeva and Mr. Ilya Moroz were recognized as winners in their committees and has got credentialed to represent FEFU at the All-Russian Student Model SCO, which will take place in 2021 on the premises of the Belgorod State National Research University.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a permanent intergovernmental international organization, the creation of which was announced on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai (China). According to the SCO Charter, the goals of the alliance are to ensure stability and security in the region, the fight against terrorism and extremism, the development of economic cooperation, energy partnership, scientific and cultural interaction. Priority areas are the development of transport infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, oil and gas, agriculture, the use of water resources, and others.
