In December 2017 talented and bright MUNRFE representatives contributed to the implementation of “Young Leaders of Russia” program in the All-Russian Children Center “Okean”. On December 12, MUNRFE Financial Director Ms. Ekaterina Tretiakova, Vladivostok Club President Ms. Anna Timokhina, Vice-President Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva, Mr. Egor Klimovich and Mr. Andrew Moon introduced entertaining lecture covering the topics of public-speaking, speech structure and debate techniques incorporating various trainings aimed at preparation for debates. The opportunity to apply new knowledge was not long in coming for children: on December 14 participants of “Young Leader of Russia” contest were to debate and negotiate on the issue of “Providing governmental financial support for projects of youth” from the perspective of three pillars – government, municipality and the youth. Impartial jury in persons of Ms. Anna Timokhina, Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva and Ms. Julia Nedelkina conducted the evaluation of participants' performance in accordance with the following criteria: wide background on the topic, original content, strong defending of distributed position and effective and bright speeches.
On December 1-5, 2017 Model United Nations on the Russian Far East successfully organized its traditional event - MUNRFE Annual Conference 2017 on the premises of Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok, Russia. The event which gathered participants from Republic of Korea, Pakistan, Indonesia and Japan was implemented under the leadership of the Secretary-General, Ms. Anna Timokhina and Under-Secretary-General for Conference Management, Ms. Julia Nedelkina.
In frames of the MUNRFE Annual Conference 2017 the delegates were granted with an opportunity to attend the series of seminars conducted by Mr. Oleg Dunaev, International Expert on Development in Russian-speaking subdivision of the international evaluation network - EVALSDGs located in Moscow. In frames of the seminars Mr. Dunaev shared the his knowledge and experience in the realm of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) and more specifically, the topis of SDGs monitoring and evaluation. During the first seminar Mr. Dunaev provided the delegates with the profound background on the subject of importance of SDGs. Furthermore, at the second seminar the expert covered the role of international organizations in achieving and assessing SDGs as well as youth impact in this sphere.
On 2 December, the delegates of MUNRFE Annual Conference 2017 participated in the cultural program organized by the main Partner of the Conference – Far Eastern Branch of ‘‘Russkiy Mir’’ Foundation. The delegates were invited to visit three sights of Vladivostok. The delegates of the Security Council (SC) and the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) had an opportunity to visit the Marine Museum of the Maritime State University named after G.I. Nevelskoy. As for the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, the delegates of this committee visited an exhibition center "Art Etazh" whereas the delegates of the World Bank attended Primorsky Territory Art Gallery having acquainted with the history of art in the Primorsky Region. The delegates of the HLPF and WB had an opportunity to explore both classic and contemporary paintings, sculptures and other fascinating masterpieces presented in the art objects. The CCPCJ and SC delegates had a tour led by a Head of the Marine Museum learning the marine history of the Russian Far East. Furthermore, the delegates were invited to attend the simulator of vessels and explore the way towards the New York City Harbor.
On 1 December, MUNRFE Annual Conference 2017 has officially started. The Opening Ceremony was successfully conducted and has marked the beginning of the first working day of four committees: High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, Security Council, Commission of Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and World Bank. More than 50 young diplomats from Russia, Republic of Korea, Germany, France, Japan, Indonesia, Ghana, Sierra-Leone, Turkey and Pakistan gathered in Far Eastern Federal University, Vladivostok to demonstate their best skills and professionalism, to share their view on global challenges the world community faces and to propose their own solutions.
The introductory word was given by Mr. Evgeny E. Vlasov, Deputy Vice President for International Relations of Far Eastern Federal University, who emphasized his appreciation to the Model United Nations of the Russian Far East for its contribution to the youth prosperity and wished the organization successes in all undertakings. Furthermore, Ms. Elena A. Kiseleva, MUNRFE Executive Director made a statement on behalf of the organization and expressed her deepest gratitude to its strategic partner - Far Eastern Federal University for the constant support of MUNRFE activities and events.
Less than one week left until the start of the MUNRFE Annual Conference 2017. On December 1-5 gathering on the premises of Far Eastern Federal University more than 60 students from Russia, Republic of Republic of Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Pakistan will have a chance to discuss topics related to prevention of cybercrime, international security, eradication of women’s social exclusion and others. It is noteworthy to mention that this year the Conference is expecting to host three external Secretariat officers namely Vice-Chairperson to the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Mr. Felix Portier (France), Vice-Chairperson to the World Bank Mr. Christian Wollny (Germany) and Vice-Chairperson to the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development Mr. Caleb Oh (Republic of Korea) who will facilitate the work of the committees and lead participants to success.
