In frames of the trip to the National Model UN – Japan 2016, under the guidance of Ms. Elena Kiseleva, MUNRFE Delegation comprised of Ms. Anna Timokhina, Ms. Alena Filimonova, Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva, Ms. Yulia Kosiakova and Ms. Yana Karsnitskaya were privileged to attend the meeting with the Ambassador Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ecuador to Japan, H.E. Mr. Leonardo Carrion Eguiguren. In frames of the meeting Mr. Eguiguren outlined the primary directions of Ecuador’s policy in frames of the United Nations, in particular, its active role and interest in contributing to the resolution of the Climate Change agenda and the protection of the environment. Besides, Mr. Eguiguren and the participants discussed the issues related to the international peace and security, namely the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, protection of rights of refugees and illicit trade of arms. Moreover, Mr. Eguiguren kindly shared diplomatic experice and provided the delegation with the advice on how to successfully perform the role of the diplomat at the upcoming National Model UN – Japan 2016. In token of respect and gratitude to H.E. Mr. Leonardo Carrion Eguiguren and the Embassy of Ecuador, MUNRFE delegation presented the Embassy with a gift from the heart of the Russian Far East, the city of Vladivostok.
On November 18, 2016 the members of MUNRFE Delegation to the National Model UN – Japan 2016 (Ms. Anna Timokhina, Ms. Alena Filimonova, Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva, Ms. Yana Karsnitskaya and the Head of the Delegation, Ms. Elena Kiseleva) were honored to attend the meeting with the Head for Political Affairs of the Embassy of Mexico in Japan – Mr. Jose Antonio Gloria. During the informal discussion Mr. Gloria kindly shared the vision and policy of Mexico regarding the most crucial global issues discussed in frames of the United Nations, such as elimination of weapons of mass destruction, illicit trade of arms, protection of children in armed conflicts and climate change. The participants had an opportunity to address a wide range of questions and to significantly broaden their vision and understanding of the abovementioned agendas. Besides, in frames of the meeting Mr. Gloria and the participants had an informative discussion on the issue of the United Nations reform and the perspectives of the organization's development and its transformation in the future. Overall, the meeting has significantly contributed to the preparation of the delegates for the upcoming National Model UN – Japan 2016.
On November 7-12, 2016 the students of Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service had an opportunity to participate in MUNRFE School of International Relations coordinated by Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva. In frames of the project participants attended lectures related to the sustainable development, International Law and the United Nations structure. The first lecture on Agenda 2030 was delivered by MUNRFE Counselor for External Affairs, Ms. Ksenia O. Shevtsova. During the second lecture performed by VSUES Associate Professor of School of Law, Ms. Ella V. Gorian, students learnt about comprehensive aspects of International law and considered controversial historical cases. The last lecture delivered by MUNRFE Director-General, Mr. Vitaly E. Savenkov, was devoted to the introduction to the structure, values and mechanisms of the United Nations’ work. As a result, the participants could manage to apply gained knowledge during the final event which was conducted in the form of parliamentary debates discussing “hot topics” of the contemporary world.
On November 7, the first day of the School of International Relations 2016 successfully took place in Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service. The first lecture delivered by MUNRFE Counselor for External Affairs, Ms. Ksenia O. Shevtsova, was devoted to the Agenda 2030. The participants were introduced to the Sustainable Development Goals, their predecessor – Millennium Development Goals and Russia’s role in the implementation of these global frameworks. Having asked a dozen of questions, students of VSUES and FEFU, obtained background on the most discussed issue of the decade. Consequently, the School will last for a week, November 7-12, the main topics of lectures are directed to describe mechanisms of how the United Nations and other International Organizations are striving to achieve global prosperity and sustainability. In this regard, next meetings will be oriented to broaden participants’ background in the spheres of International Law and United Nations structure, in particular by VSUES Associate Professor of School of Law Ms. Ella V. Gorian and MUNRFE Director-General Vitaly E. Savenkov. The last day will be a checking point for participants – to debate in the format of parliamentary debates. The main prize for winners is free participation in one of the most developmental projects of the upcoming December – MUNRFE 15th Anniversary Conference.
On October 3 – November 5, 2016 Vladivostok MUNRFE Club under the leadership of the coordinators, namely Ms. Anna Timokhina and Ms. Yuliia Kosiakova conducted Autumn Master Classes 2016 “New step – New Achievement" in Far Eastern Federal University Vladivostok. The project started with the Big Presentation, attended by the following speakers: Mr. Vitaly E. Savenkov – MUNRFE Director-General, Mr. Evgeny S. Volosastov - the Second Secretary of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Vladivostok and Ms. Elena V. Saprykina - Deputy Vice-Rector for International Relations, who warmly welcomed the participants. Young leaders completed the course of lectures on public-speaking, negotiations, time-management, delivered by experienced MUNRFE members. After the first week, the participants were divided into teams, coordinated by advisers who were appointed and granted the responsibility to assist the participants in project activities. The most important event in frames of Master Classes was the Final Conference, where the participants had a chance to play the role of the diplomats representing different states while debating in two the UN committees - the General Assembly and the Security Council.
On the November 2, 2016 the members of Vladivostok MUNRFE Club had a great privilege to attend a meeting in a format of formal discussion with Mr. Salvatore Babones, Professor of Sociology and Social Policy of Sydney University. The scope of research and scientific interests of Prof. Salvatore Babones is very extensive and includes issues of world politics and economics, sociology, and international relations (including East Asia and the Asia-Pacific region). During the meeting the students discussed issues of nationalism, globalizationоn and immigration. Moreover, in frames of the meeting the participants discussed recent and modern political and social processes in the European Union and Eastern Europe. The whole discussion was very informative and attracted everyone’s interest.
