Social project 2019 in Vladivostok was successfully implemented
At the end of May, MUNRFE Vladivostok Club organized the Social Project under the leadership of Maksim Sorokin, Yana Linkevich, and Aleksandra Mikhailiuk. The project contained two stages: Charity Fair “Boomerang of Goodness” (May 28) and the visit to the Vladivostok Orphanage 2 (June 4) with the entertaining program and gifts bought on the raised money.
The charity fair was conducted in Far Eastern Federal University in cooperation with FEFU Association of Russian and International Students (ARIS), Student’s detachments, and the Student Council of the FEFU School of Natural Sciences. The event was accompanied by the performances of Polina Varfolomeeva and Alisa Kuzmina along with two Master-Classes by ARIS.
The issue of regional security in Asia was discussed at “ASEAN in Global Affairs”
From May 27-29, MUNRFE Vladivostok club carried out the “ASEAN in Global Affairs” project under the leadership of Oleg Povzyk and Dmitriy Goryachev. This initiative included the lecture on regional institutions in East Asia by FEFU Department of International Relations lecturer Dr. Sergey Sevastyanov and MUN debate session on “Combating Maritime Piracy in Southeast Asia”. Besides, before the debates, MUNRFE Senior Associate for Public Information and the member of the MUNRFE delegation to NMUN-NY 2019 Galina Salnikova delivered a briefing on the agenda item and chaired the debates.
During the final debates, delegates had an opportunity to represent one of 18 states of East Asia Summit in frames of the Model UN simulation. As a result of the consultations, they adopted the East Asia Leaders’ statement on combating maritime piracy. Maksim Sorokin became the “Outstanding Delegate”, and Polina Dolgopolova – “Distinguished Delegate”. The winners received prizes from the Language School “Language Industry” that was the sponsor of the project.
MUNRFE delegation to NMUN-NY 2019 was awarded by FEFU authorities
On 30 May, the Far Eastern Federal University authorities awarded the MUNRFE members who represented the Organization to the National Model United Nations 2019 in New York, the USA, for their successful performance that resulted in the “Outstanding Delegation” Award.
The awarding ceremony was conducted in frames of the traditional FEFU Progress Review, at which the University recognized all the achievements made by the students from FEFU students' organizations, FEFU schools, and the Creating and Performing Arts Center during the spring semester 2019.
MUNRFE Presidential Team presented a lecture about HIV/AIDS
On 20 May, MUNRFE Vladivostok Club President Ms. Daria Zlydar and Vice-President Ms. Alyona Plekhanova delivered a lecture for the foreign students of FEFU School of Biomedicine about HIV/AIDS. The students got acquainted with the implications of HIV, its emergence and proliferation as well as the measures to avoid and prevent infection. This initiative was implemented in frames of International AIDS Candlelight Memorial Day by FEFU School of Biomedicine in partnership with MUNRFE.
MUNRFE is concerned about raising public awareness of HIV/AIDS causes, symptoms, and ways of transmission.
MUNRFE received a grant from the United Nations Association of Russia to participate in C-MIMUN, Moscow
MUNRFE delegation took part in the largest and the most eminent MUN Conference of Russia — Churkin Moscow International Model United Nations (C-MIMUN) 2019. The event took place on 14-19 April 2019 in the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) with committees in the six United Nations (UN) official languages. Upon successfully undergoing the selection process within MUNRFE, Blagoveshchensk Club President Elisaveta Sungurova and Vladivostok Club member Aleksandra Mikhailiuk were nominated to represent the Organization at C-MIMUN and perform as the delegates of India and Paraguay respectively in frames of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) simulation. It is noteworthy that the trip of our delegation was made possible due to the support of our partners — the United Nations Association of Russia.
Far Eastern Model UN 2019 Report
On 14-17 May 2019, Model United Nations of the Russian Far East has successfully implemented its annual event the Far Eastern Model UN 2019. The conference took place on the premises of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok and gathered more than 60 delegates. 3 committees in the English language namely the General Assembly Second Committee, the General Assembly Third Committee, and the Security Council were simulated in the UN4MUN format. The event was implemented with the support of the Far Eastern Federal University, UN Information Centre in Moscow, Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, and the Far Eastern Branch of the ‘‘Russkiy Mir’’ Foundation.
