MUNRFE 2018 Highlights and warmest wishes for 2019
At the end of the year of 2018, MUNRFE wishes everyone the best of luck, strong motivation for self-development, a swarm of bright ideas, and true loyal friends.
However, New Year’s celebration is not only about congratulating each other, but it is also the time when one commemorates his or her accomplishments and sets forth new ambitious goals to aspire. MUNRFE likewise has numerous achievements to be proud of by the end of 2018 and would like to share the most remarkable of them. Not only do these highlights please everyone contributing to the successes but, also, they encourage to aim higher in 2019.
MUNRFE Annual Conference 2018 Report
On December 7-10, MUNRFE successfully implemented the 17th Annual Conference. The event conducted on the premises of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Vladivostok gathered around 85 participants from various parts of Russia as well as from abroad. The participants represented United Nations member states to four committees, namely: Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), Security Council (SC) as well as World Bank (WB). The Conference was organized in cooperation with UN Information Centre in Moscow, UN Association of Russia, Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Far Eastern branch of the ‘‘Russkiy Mir’’ Foundation, Fund of Presidential Grants, and Federal Agency for Youth Affairs of Russia.
MUNRFE earns awards at NMUN 2018 in Xi’an China
On November 18-24 MUNRFE delegation took part in National Model UN 2018 in Xi’an, China. This year the delegation was formed in the following composition: MGIMO University student Felix Portier and Far Eastern Federal University students, namely Vsevolod Cheresov, Aleksandra Chernysheva, Alyona Plekhanova, Anastasiia Vrishch, Polina Varfolomeeva as well as delegation adviser MUNRFE Deputy Executive Director Alexandra Kosyreva. Having shown high-level professionalism and debating skills as well as deep knowledge in the agenda items, the delegation was granted with an Outstanding Delegation award as a result of the Conference, whereas Aleksandra Chernysheva and Alyona Plekhanova grabbed the Position Paper award.
MUNRFE Vladivostok Club members met the head of the Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs
On November 28, the representatives of MUNRFE Vladivostok Club, namely MUNRFE Vladivostok Club Acting President Ms. Anna Timokhina, MUNRFE Associate for Public Information Ms. Galina Salnikova, Vladivostok Club Manager for Public Information Ms. Aleksandra Chernysheva, attended the meeting with the Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Mr. Alexander Bugaev in frames of the project “A Dialogue on Equal Terms”.
The meeting was of great importance for MUNRFE as the Annual Conference 2018, which is going to be conducted from December 7-10, received the sponsorship assistance in frames of the Grant Competition organized by the Agency for its implementation.
MUNRFE took part in the XII Russky Mir Assembly
MUNRFE Governing Council Chairman Mr. Vitaly Savenkov was invited to participate in the XII Russky Mir Assembly. He joined the delegation of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russky Mir Foundation, one of the MUNRFE long-standing partners, headed by Mr. Alexander Zubritsky. The Assembly was conducted on November 2-4 in the city of Tver, Russia. For several days, about 600 people from more than 70 countries got acquainted with Russian culture and the capital of the Upper Volga region.
The key event of the Assembly was the panel discussion “The Universality of Russian Culture”, which was held at the site of the Tver Academic Drama Theater. Also, a number of round tables was held, namely “Traditional religions of the Russian world in the dialogue of cultures”, “Patriotism in Russian history and culture”, “Russian language and education of the future world”, “Russian theater abroad”, and “Young Russian-speaking journalism in the global information space”.
MUNRFE delegation to NMUN 2018 Xi’an met the representatives of Russian Student Association and Shanghai Cooperation Organization Countries Youth League
As a part of the trip, the MUNRFE delegation successfully established contacts with Russian Student Association (RSA) headed by Ms. Victoria Faizulina that aims at adaptation of Russians studying in China as well as Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Countries Youth League (SCOLAR) under the leadership of Ms. Victoria Khu, which goal is to enhance communication among the youth of SCO states.
In frames of the first meeting with RSA, MUNRFE team had a chance to get acquainted with the studying process in China, educational opportunities and scholarships, students’ life, and intercultural communication of Russian and Chinese youth. The Association has been operating for 5 years already, and currently it is based in three cities of China, namely Beijing, Shanghai, and Harbin. RSA implements its activities for the purpose of adaptation of Russian students wanting to study in China, organizing events for interaction and communication among students of different origins.
