MUNRFE expresses its condolences to the victims of terrorist act in St. Petersburg
On April 3, 2017 a devastating tragedy happened in St. Petersburg. The terroristic act took place in the city subway. The explosion occurred at around 2.30 pm local time, after the train had left Sennaya Ploshchad station in the center of St Petersburg. As a result of the terrorist attack, 14 people died and more than 20 were seriously injured. All stations of the St. Petersburg subway were completely closed. The governor of the city announced an emergency and a three-day mourning was declared in St. Petersburg.
The President of Russia, Mr. Vladimir V. Putin has already expressed his condolences to the families of victims and promised assistance from the state.
MUNRFE became an organizer of eco-project in FEFU
Eco-project in Vladivostok is a part of the global movement which was held from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on March 25th, 2017 in Far Eastern Federal University. The key aspect is that people all around the planet turn off the lights in their houses for one hour and by this action demonstrate their respect to our planet Earth. Almost 90 students of the most innovative University of the Russian Far East were actively involved into the participation in this great event.
This year young leaders of Vladivostok MUNRFE Club became the initiator and the organizer of the eco-project in Far Eastern Federal University. Students expressed their desire to fight for the protection of the environment and planet, in general. In addition, participants of the event had a great opportunity to become a significant part of the amazing flashdance. The electricity was switched off in the main building of FEFU, and the light sticks were only light source illuminating construction from outside.
MUNRFE at the National Model UN - New York 2017
From March 19 – 23, 2017, MUNRFE was privileged to represent the Organization and the Russian Federation at the National Model United Nations (NMUN) – New York 2017. The delegation consisting of FEFU students Ms. Yulya Nedelkina, Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva and Ms. Anna Timokhina represented Serbia in the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), respectively. This year, NMUN-New York gathered around 5000 participants from 110 countries worldwide, where MUNRFE was the only participating institution from Russia. As a result of the intensive preparation of the delegation and active involvement in the process of debating, the delegation was granted with an Honorable Mention Delegation award. Noteworthy is that the team's adviser - MUNRFE Counselor for External Affairs - Mr. Jesse Thomas - was selected as the Chairperson for the Economic and Social Council, which demonstrates the highest level of knowledge and professionalism MUNRFE members possess.
MUNRFE for Schools has been successfully implemented
The educational project MUNRFE for Schools, which was conducted on March 13-17 in Vladivostok, has been successfully completed under the leadership of Ms. Anastasia Kretova and Ms. Polina Varfolomeeva. The objective of the project was the development of high school students in the sphere of time-management.
During the project the participants had an opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities in frames of the lecture on time-management. The lecture allowed the students to expand their knowledge in terms of the proper organization of their classes and spare time. Each and every student was able to learn more about the differences between «hard» and «flexible» affairs and to realize the importance of planning the days accordingly.
MUNRFE members successfully visited “Okean”
On Sunday, March 12, All-Russian Children Center “Okean” welcomed students from the Far Eastern Federal University for Presentation of the university’s specialties and student organizations. Members of Vladivostok MUNRFE Club also had a chance to represent the Organization as well as to help future leaders to explore the world of MUNRFE, by introducing to them all the advantages of being a part of this movement. Moreover, children were invited to participate in Summer Program “FireStarter 2017”, which will be conducted in August.
Furthermore, participants of the event had a great chance to plunge into the atmosphere of hot debates, team work and try themselves as true diplomats as everyone had a chance to share their opinion upon sophisticated issues.
Spring MUNRFE School 2017 of Blagoveshchensk Club
Spring MUNRFE School, which was held on February 27 - March 11 in Blagoveschensk, has been successfully conducted. The school was implemented for two weeks and finished with Final Debates in AmSU conference hall. The coordinator of the project was Mr. Ilya Kopot' and the Vice-Coordinator was Ms. Margarita Vashchenko.
During the projects the participants had a chance to learn about public-speaking, leadership, United Nations structure, goal-setting, negotiations and other MUN-related activities. The participants and current members of the Club discussed the agenda item "States Information Security in the Digital Age" in frames of the First Committee of the General Assembly. After hours of debates, the delegates reached a consensus, and, as a result, adopted the resolution.
