On April 10 members of Vladivostok MUNRFE Club Ms. Alexandra Kosyreva and Ms. Ekaterina Tretiakova attended School №1 in Volno-Nadeshdinskoye rural settlement. Young ladies conducted the set of lectures for the participants of the local project aimed at raising the abilities of high school students for self-governance. Students of 10 and 11 grade had a unique opportunity to plunge into self-development area in limited timeframes. This year the School of Leadership took only one day, nevertheless, the opportunities brought before young leaders left the same as usual. MUNRFE members delivered lectures and conducted various trainings on leadership, public speaking, goal-setting and time management for the participants of the project. The schoolchildren have expressed their natural interest to new and fresh knowledge being actively involved into discussions and trainings. Except for the brought educational component, our representatives have introduced the upcoming bright events of the Organization which is the Far Eastern Model UN and FireStarter 2017 and by that means explained the participants the core values and key activities of the MUNRFE.
The meeting with former UN peacekeeper Mr. Evgeniy V. Krivosheev was held on April 12-13 in Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service (VSUES) under the leadership of Mr. Konstantin Golnev with a significant contribution of the VSUES assistant professor Dr. Ella V. Gorian. On the first day of the meeting Mr. Krivoscheev told about the role of the peacekeeping operations in the UN system, and on the next day he illustrated actions undertaken in frames of the UN peacekeeping mission in Western Sahara. After an interesting presentation and a lot of useful information, there was a fruitful conversation between him and participants of this event. Students asked former peacekeeper a lot of questions and he described the specifics of the work of peacekeeping contingents, provisions of necessary supplies including food and medical help, the duration and payment of the service, interaction with official authorities of states where missions are located, and the role of civilians in missions. Mr. Krivoscheev has shared his personal experience of work in the peacekeeping mission in Western Sahara and participants have gained new knowledge about the work of the United Nations and its peacekeeping forces from the first hand!
On March 20 – April 1 Vladivostok MUNRFE Club conducted the project named as «MUNRFE Round Table 2017» for students of the Far Eastern Federal University under the leadership of its Coordinators, namely Mr. Andrew Moon and Ms. Ekaterina Zamulina.
During 2 weeks of the project more than 30 students were expanding their knowledge on such important topics as International Relations, International Law and Ecology by means of listening to lectures delivered by experienced MUNRFE members as well as high-qualified FEFU professors and experts.
Ms. Elena A. Kiseleva, MUNRFE Executive Director and a prizewinner of National Model United Nations conferences both in New York (USA) and Incheon (ROK), got participants acquainted with the information about the United Nations, its structure, functions and ambitious Sustainable Development Goals that the global community is striving to tackle until 2030.
Model United Nations of the Russian Far East is glad to announce the winners of the Grant Competition for the participation in the Far Eastern Model United Nations 2017 and their rewards:
1. Ms. Tatiana Rahozina (Belarus) – free accommodation for the days of the Conference;
2. Mr. Ilya Kopot (Russia, Blagoveshchensk) – 50 % reimbursement for travel expenses (economy class);
3. Ms. Shi Yue (China) – 50 % reimbursement for travel expenses (economy class).
The winners have shown their desire to take part in the unique Conference as well as their willingness to research on their agenda items. In frames of the Grant Competition the participants were required to submit a Motivational Letter and an Essay on one of the agenda items of the Conference. The Grant Competition is a traditional activity implemented in frames of MUNRFE Conferences aimed at attraction of non-Vladivostok and international participants.
Model United Nations of the Russian Far East is delighted to announce that in frames of the Program of the Far Eastern Model UN 2017 the delegates will have a truly unique opportunity to meet Mr. William Yotive, who developed the UN4MUN procedure while working at the United Nations Department of Public Information. Mr. William Yotive is currently the Model UN Coordinator of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) where he develops content for WFUNA’s Model UN programs around the world and conducts trainings on how to simulate the General Assembly and Security Council at different educational levels. Mr. Yotive is one of the leading experts on Model UN and is currently writing a book on its history. Prior to working at WFUNA, Mr. Yotive was Project Manager of the United Nations Global Teaching and Learning Project within the Outreach Division of the UN Department of Public Information for more than 14 years.
As a result of coherent work between MUNRFE and Vladivostok State University of Economic and Service (VSUES) on April 12-13, 2017 Mr. Evgeniy V. Krivoscheev who is former representative of the UN peacekeeping forces will visit VSUES. On the first day of his visit, he will tell about the UN peacekeeping system. During the second day, Mr. Krivoscheev will illustrate actions of the UN peacekeeping mission in Western Sahara, which he was appointed to. During the event the participants will be able to ask any questions and have an opportunity to gain new knowledge about work of the United Nations and its maintenance of the international peace and security. The meeting shall take place in VSUES, auditorium 1528, 6:30 p.m.
